Marissa Murdock's Winning Moments

Marissa Murdock was so beautiful the night she was crowned...please enjoy a few of her photos.

Jr. Miss Colorado-World 2010

Marissa Murdock of Aurora Colorado was crowned Jr. Miss Colorado-World 2010 at the beautiful Lincoln Center Theater in Ft. Collins on May 9th, 2010.

Marissa is 12 years old and attends Denver School of the Arts. Her hobbies include knitting, cooking, ice and roller skating, track, reading, shopping, soccer and doing my homework. I also enjoy attending Yoga classes with my mother. Marissa says her talents are singing, acting, cheerleading, and modeling. She also plays the piano and loves to dance.

Favorite things: Book - Fly Girl, Movie - The Great Debaters, T.V. Show - American Idol.

Sports Played - Track, Roller Skating, Ice Skating and Soccer.

Favorite Quote - "We are more alike my friend then we are unalike." By: Maya Angelou

The Cause Marissa is most passionate about - "There are several issues that are important to me such as the recent Haiti Earthquake, the economic crisis that has caused people to lose their jobs and homes, child abuse around the world, and the war. There’s not just one cause that I feel concerned about, but there are many that are very serious and result in people losing their life’s. However, the one that I believe that can directly and/or indirectly impact everyone in the world, is Global Warming. I believe that because over time the rise in the earth’s temperature has resulted in significantly climate changes, we will continue to see water rising in many areas. In addition, I believe that if we continue the way we are doing that eventually Florida may be covered completely in water. To prevent this from happening I strongly advocate that we should start recycling and taking measures to preserve and protect our natural resources and in the long run we can preserve our planet."

Marissa's Community Involvement: "I sing in the choir and I enjoy performing at venues throughout the city such as nursing homes, hospitals, children shelters, fundraisers, schools and special events. My other community service activities include reading to the elderly and 2nd graders. I also participate in trash pick-up around my school. I sing the National Anthem at Bishop Machebeuf High School's Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball games and have reently sung at a Toastmasters event. Other Community service includes singing at the Christmas Musical and baking cookies for the Christmas concert. I also have sung for the nursing home and prepared gift bags and served food for the elederly during the holidays."

We asked Marissa why she wanted to be Jr. Miss Colorado-World - "I believe I should be crowned Jr. Miss Colorado-World because I would love to represent the beautiful and majestic State of Colorado. I am fully devoted and committed to do what it takes to be successful and win this pageant. I believe education is the most important asset in being able to effectively compete and I have maintained excellent grades throughout my school years. I believe Jr. Miss Colorado needs to not only communicate well; but to also exhibit the character and integrity to effectively represent this title and ultimately the State of Colorado. I love competing and believe I will be the next Jr. Miss Colorado-World!"

When we asked Marissa if there was anything else she would like us to know about her she replied - "I have a 4.0 grade point average and attend the Denver School of the Arts. I love to sing and dance; although my brother tells me that dancing is not my strong suit.(Smile) I still try however. I have been playing the piano for approximately six years and I really enjoy it. I have previously competed in two other pagaents and not only won the talent competition in one; but also was crowned the overall winner in both pageants. I enjoy community service work and I believe it is a way to “pay it forward.” My faith in God helps me to be strong. On a more personal note, I also like jewelry, spending time with my family and friends. My household consist of an older brother and my mother and father. We have family fun time and I really enjoy when my grandparents come to visit us. I enjoy texting, talking on the phone and going to the movies and the mall. I like watching TV, DVD's, videos and playing on the computer. I also enjoy listening to music and karaoke singing. In closing, I have a smile that lights up the room, I enjoy people and I'm very dedicated and commited to any project I undertake. My bubbly personality and pleasant disposition is perfect to be the next Jr. Miss Colorado-World."

We are so proud to have Marissa as our Jr. Miss Colorado-World 2010! She is an amazing young lady!
